Someday You Will Be Loved

You may feel alone when you're falling asleep
And everytime tears roll down your cheeks
But I know your heart belongs to someone you've yet to meet
Someday you will be loved

--Death Cab For Cutie

I love this song! Death Cab For Cutie has such beautiful, deep and sad music. Perfect for listening to when I'm in a melancholy mood. Their music definitely grew on me after a year or so...I guess you just have to listen to and ponder the words. It's amazing how they bring out the deeper meanings in the simple things one does. Like in their song Your New Twin Sized Bed, he sings about someone who has traded their queen sized bed for a twin, showing that they have lost hope of finding love and getting married. "You look so defeated lying there in your new twin sized bed," he sings...
I think they're one of my favorite bands for sure. It's a shame it took me so long to love their songs!

Summer Adventures!

Well I am finally home after a month of toiling in the fields and galavanting around Oklahoma, and I have to say, it was a pretty awesome summer! I don't think work was THAT bad, especially since waking at 5a.m. means dazzling sunrises like these:
The picture doesn't even do it justice! The whole sky was red and nobody would even bat an eye (probably because they were closed...). Oh well.
Camp was really fun as always, I met alot of people and made new friends and hung out with old friends! Camp seemed way more...toned down this year though. I don't know, maybe because some of the people who make camp fun and crazy couldn't go, and there weren't quite as many hilarious moments that you would tell everyone about. I still had a blast though! It was fun being ninjas, having our tribe meetings (best tribe evaaar), Playing (and winning ;p) The Tribulation Game, Playing full-contact Dutch Blitz, hanging out with friends, and everything that goes with it! :)

Annnnd Luke and Kierstyn's wedding was A-MAZ-ING.....LY FUN. Seriously. It was a blast! Everyone was dancing, even the little kids. My feet hurt sooo bad at the end of the night. Our table was the coolest table. We had fun :)
^^That's us^^

Book vs. Movie

So, yesterday I decided to spend all day reading Phantom of the Opera. I thought, "Well if I've seen the movie and claim to be a fan, why haven't I read the book yet?" So I ended up reading the entirety of the book in one day! But it surprised me. Normally, if you see the movie first, you like it better than the book. And if you read the book first, you like it better than the movie. Then why did I like the book waaaay better? Now don't get me wrong, the movie was still aaamazing, but the book seems just over-all better. I got SO into it, and it almost felt like you wanted everything to be real(Not the scary stuff. Frankly, I'm not too keen on being serenaded by some creepy stranger in the basement). The book was more horrific than the movie, but it was still thrilling and romantic. It also left you with a better sense of closure at the end. I can understand how hard it would be to compress a book into the two-hour movie/broadway musical timeframe, and for that they did an amazing job! But I would reccommend reading it after. :)

Here comes the......SUN!

Yay! It's summer already! Things have been going by way too quickly, and I haven't blogged in forever! Wasn't my last post about spring? Yikes. Anyways, I found a job for the summer, so that's good news. Bad news is, it's the same one as last year....working the cornfields! Dun dun duhhh... Get ready for waking at 4:30, weird tans, strenuous work, dehydration, freeezing and wet early days, and hot HOT afternoons. Wait I'm being too negative, there's also the cute small town we'll be staying in, the exercise, and the time with my cousins which is always good. ^_^ But, the best thing about the summer is CAMP! I seriously can't wait. Isn't that always the best summer event? Nothing beats seeing your good friends that you haven't seen in 6 months, at least. I'm convinced this will be my best summer yet!
Another thing that I will be making use of in the summer is my sister's love of horchata (the BEST summer drink!). We had some for the first time about a week ago, and we fell in love. She's been determined ever since to make the best kind yet. So she made (brewed? concocted?) some the other day, and it was as amazingly refreshing and milky as ever! So...here's the recipe!
AMAZING HORCHATA RECIPE LINK
Really simple for such an amazing drink, don't you think?

ahhh... Spring!

"The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens and nature. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be."
--Anne Frank
Yes! The sun has finally decided to appear again. After all those long months of being cooped up inside, I'm finally able to run around outside and climb my tree again! Everyone was starting to get the winter jitters, including myself. Six months of winter really gets to ya, you know? I just needed to frolick in a meadow somewhere!

So, I was looking around on Modcloth.com (they have the cutest dresses ever!) and I found an amaaazing book! It's called "Sounding Smart at Parties" and it tells you how to hold an intelligent conversation about various things, and how to bring them up in a conversation. I thought it was hilarious! hahahaa I definitely want to get that book......for my birthday. I'm broke. Summer job applications...here I come!

New addition to the hobby cycle...oy

I have quite a few hobbies, like knitting, crocheting, drawing, and molding clay. When I get bored of one hobby, I just start on one of the other ones. As you can imagine this results in countless unfinished projects, and a continual cycle of things to do. At least I have a never-ending supply of entertainment!
So today I found an old stack of origami paper, and I immediately got to work folding away. It brought back so many memories of living in Okinawa! I used to be obsessed with origami when I was young, and I had folded creations all over the house. Anyways, I cranked out a few magic stars and cranes, then I attempted one I've never done before......The kawasaki rose!!! dun dun dunnnnn! That took about an hour...probably the hardest one I've ever done. Needless to say, my room is now filled with origami paper and there is a new addition to the hobby cycle!
Here are a few links for origami instructions:

Etsy Addiction!

So, I am completely addicted to Etsy right now. If you've never heard of it, it's a website where crafty people/artists can sell their creations. You can scour the whole site and find anything from paintings and plushies, to purses made from chip bags! Here are some of my favorite shops:
1.Audreyandgrace...I was really into 50s dresses for a while, and that's when I found this shop! Their dresses are really adorable and swingy.
2.Finkgifts...This seller has a ton of victorian-style pocket watch necklaces. I even bought one from them!
3.Plushism...They have majorly cute camera pouches and ipod cases!
4.Mlleclorofil...This seller has very pink and girly accessories. Their earmuffs are the best!
5.Coffishop...They sell very realistic looking food jewelry, and it's all made out of clay.
6.Anapaulaoli...She has alot of patterns for crochet plushies and she sells some of the plushies in her shop. She even wrote a few pattern books!
